Teide Schepers of restaurant Bij Jef wins NHGP 2022

Teide Schepers of restaurant Bij Jef in Den Hoorn (Texel) has been declared the winner of the National Hennessy Hospitality Award 2022. This prestigious award for young hospitality talent was awarded for the 21st time this year.

Second was Hedwyghe Verbeke of restaurant Het Roode Koper in Ermelo and third prize went to Michelle van de Bunt of restaurant De Leuf in Ubachsberg. The announcement took place on October 31, 2022 during the launch of the 45th anniversary of restaurant guide Lekker500. The 23-year-old Teide was the best of 22 candidates who, after a strict pre-selection, theory and practical tests and a jury visit, competed for the prize for the best young host or hostess in the Netherlands. The theory and practical tests were conducted at the ROC Mondriaan location in The Hague under the supervision of jury chairman Edwin Raben.

Teide not only won the title, but also the challenge trophy (a one-of-a-kind sculpture by artist Lou Thissen), a bottle of Hennessy Paradis worth €1,100, and a cash prize of no less than €2,500. He is also permitted to visit Hennessy's famous Château de Bagnolet for study purposes. The National Hennessy Hospitality Prize (NHGP) 2022 was awarded to Teide Schepers by Bob Bron, general manager Moët Hennessy and chairman of the Gastronomical 4 Cooperation Foundation (G4). The presentation took place at Capital C in Amsterdam, during the festive launch of the Lekker500 edition 2023, where the absolute top of gastronomy was present.
